Someone
When I see him
I get a weird feeling,
He makes me smile
He makes me laugh
He’s someone I hold dear
to my heart.
I love everything about him
the way he dresses
the way he walks
the way he smells
the things he likes,
like cartoons
and cheesy humor
He’s a friend, a companion
a significant other
someone I’d rather not live without.
I can tell him secrets
I can tell him truth
I can give him an opinion
with no worry
of any judgment.
All these things
are the way I feel
towards an important person.
Is he my soulmate?
Is my other half?
Is he my destiny?
Perhaps,
but its something
everyone will find in someone.
When I see him
I get a weird feeling,
He makes me smile
He makes me laugh
He’s someone I hold dear
to my heart.
I love everything about him
the way he dresses
the way he walks
the way he smells
the things he likes,
like cartoons
and cheesy humor
He’s a friend, a companion
a significant other
someone I’d rather not live without.
I can tell him secrets
I can tell him truth

All these things

Is he my soulmate?
Is my other half?
Is he my destiny?

Cheetah
It is not easy but we are alive.
Life is rough but if you try you can survive
she stalks her prey but tries not to hover
as time goes by she gets closer; waiting
in the tall grass lying undercover
watching every movement go by; watching
she’s off in a hurry chasing her prey
sleek and slender she's graceful in her race
success! A meal caught as the day goes grey
panting from her chase she begins to pace
calling for her young they come running out,
one, then two, then three, they sit down to dinner
while the cubs eat mom is the danger scout
another day survived, she is a winner.
But be cautious and be wary
if she stays to long hyenas come
a cub can disappear on that open prairie
hearts racing like a beating drum
but all together sanctuary is found
enclosed in trees, asleep on the ground.

Camping
No civilization to be found
your phone is gone.
Computer gone.
TV gone.
Closed in by trees you set your tent
all there is, is nature.
You walk a scenic hike
birds chirp and squirrels chatter
perhaps, you see a moose
by days end above you see
black nights and star filled skies
with crickets singing.
The smell of logs burning on the fire
marshmallows cooked to a crisp.
You bundle up to keep warm
rotating around the fire
like a rotisserie chicken
finally, its time to sleep
underneath your layers of blankets
you watch the stars
maybe one flies by
as you close your eyes,
and sleep.

Night Out
Dim lights, loud music
smoke in the air
a crowd of people
hoping to get something out of the night.
Dressed down in fitted jeans
and a classy button up
I serve the crowd
the liquid they purchase
from behind my counter
my favorite being
Jack Daniel’s.
At the end of the night
that numerous crowd
is just about gone
a few stragglers are left behind
with putrid breath
and not much sense
of where to go
they stumble out the door
and I clean up
organizing my bottles
behind the counter
for the next nights
crowd.

Button up and jeans
I serve numerous people
desired liquid
my favorite being Jack Daniel’s
I organize my bottles.
